When you bring your experiences and abilities into the church, you’re like the aunt who brings the favorite dish at Thanksgiving. Without you, the meal just doesn’t feel complete! As we serve, we create deeper connections with God and each other. We discover our spiritual gifts, and we partner with God in blessing others.

children and youth

Our Children’s Ministry is uniquely designed for kids to experience Jesus on their level! As a Children's Ministry volunteer, you will have the opportunity to care for babies, preschoolers, and elementary-age children. There are opportunities to serve during our Sunday Services, through our pre-school (KMO) and early childhood music (ECMS) programs, and during our family focused service (Messy Church). No matter your role, you will be helping to create a safe, fun, and age-appropriate environment for kids where the Bible can come to life and relationships can be built.

Youth Group is WUMC's student ministry. At Youth Group, middle and high school students learn how to love God through studies, missions, and fun activities so that they may come to live the life He has for them. Youth Group has serving opportunities on Wednesday nights both on and off campus. Serve students at a Youth Group gathering or help students grow in their understanding of God and His Word as a Youth Group leader.

your spiritual gifts

Spiritual gifts are specific ways the work of the Holy Spirit is manifested in our lives. These gifts — on top of our interests, abilities, hobbies, likes, and dislikes — join together to form who we are and how we participate in the work God is doing all around us. Some of us are good at hospitality. Others at serving. Still others at teaching or sharing their faith. Some of us like to be center stage, while others prefer to work in the background. That's all part of God's plan. At Williamsburg UMC we work to create opportunities for every member, regardless of age, to use their gifts. That way we share God's love not just at church, but at work, at school, everywhere.

Not sure what spiritual gifts are? A classic list can be found in Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. You can also take a look at a more modern list here.
